FAKE NEWS

Fake news

There has been many problems recently with the problem with knowing whether or not the place you’re getting information is reliable or not. This was really evident with this last 2016 presidential election. The poll seemed to be influenced by a widespread belief in fake news among Trump supporters. Statistics showed that 73 % of Trump voters thought the billionaire financier George Soros paid protesters to disrupt the Republican candidate’s rallies- a fake news report later repeated by the president- elect himself.

There have been may reported cases of fake news such as, when the Democratic senators wanted to impose sharia in Florida, who was a trump nominee for national security adviser. Flynn tweeted that the Democrats were involved with “sex crimes with Children. A false report also said that trump supports were chanting “we hate Muslims, we hate blacks, we want out great country back” this was reported as true on election night.

I think that this problem with Fake news is really interesting because it shows how news can really effect a nation as a whole. Especially with the election as a whole and how during the whole election people were sure that Hilary was going to win where as in the end Trump won. Trump has been complaining about this fake news problem for a while because he either doesn’t want to get exposed for something that he’s done or that it’s starting to become a problem with his whole presidency.

Update on the Kenyan Elections

 KENYA ELECTIONS

As the 2017 Kenyan Election are coming on up on August 8, Kenya needs to prepare themselves for what is to come.

“We are going to win this election very early in the morning,” says Kennedy Oluoch, who plans to vote for Odinga. “We have enough numbers to beat the ruling party. If they try to rig it again, like they did in 2013, Kenya will burn.” Kenyan leaders are feeling very strongly about weather or not Uhuru Kenyatta will win another term in office. Judging based off of the last years there has been backlash of who has won, and people aren't afraid to use the method of violence again.
The commission also says that, as in the 2007 violence, certain radio stations are openly propagating an ethnic agenda. “We are extremely worried about what is going on,” Francis Kaparo, the chairman of the commission, said at a press conference. “We are calling for peaceful campaigns ahead of the August elections.”

The problem with the Kenya election is that Kenya is polarized
by many ethnic lines. he ruling party is determined to win a second term, while the opposition says it sees signs of plans to rig the vote and vows not to accept a stolen election.

Environment in Texas and Finland

 Environment In Texas & Finland

The environment in Texas various with the different climates there. The physical state of Texas is split into four parts, the Great Plains, The great rolling plains/ north central plains, Gulf Coastal Plains, and Basin and Range province. Texas occupies about 7 percent of the total water and land area of the United States. The Geographic center of Texas is about 15 miles northeast of Brady in northern McCulloch County. In Texas they have foundations where people can go on their websites and learn how to conserve water, and they can also learn how to take care of the environment around them. The senators their drafted, “the house ways & Means and Energy & commerce committee’s.” Through this act the people will be able to make a change based off of the environment that they are living in, and what needs to be fixed.

Rivers and groundwater in Finland have been polluted due to fertilizer from agriculture industry and wood- processing which is higher than most European countries. With the Nature conservation act of 1923, Nature preserves could be established as needed and various laws were passed concerning purity of water, pesticide control and waste management. The Ministry of environment was formed which departments concerned specifically with conservation of the environment, nature and housing. Finland still lacks a satisfactory environment plan, but still today Finland is known for its environmental improvements. With technological advancements in monitoring and measuring pollutants in water and air, they later turned things around.

Environment in Kenya

 Environment in Kenya

Deforestation and soil erosion are two huge environmental problems in Kenya. With a growing population here there becomes an increased demands for food production and fire wood. Drought and desertification threatens the lands of Kenya. By the mid 1980’s Kenya had already lost 700% of its original mangrove areas. Water pollution from urban and industrial areas have cause problems with being able to get clean drinking water in large cities. Only about 42% of the residents that live in rural areas and 88% of city dwellers have pure drinking water. The pollutants from industry produce about 1.1 million tons of solid wastes.

The government has worked on preserving some land in Kenya by setting aside more than 3.5 million national parks and game preserves. Game Hunting and trade in ivory has been banned from Kenya. But poaching threatens leopard, cheetahs, lions, elephants, rhinoceroses, and other species. In Kenya it is illegals to kill an animal even if it attacks, which doesn’t happen when attacks take place. There are about 43 species of mammals and 24 bird species in Kenya who are endangered. Alongside with the animal endangerment there are about 130 plant species in Kenya that are threatened with extinction.
